It is our great pleasure and honor to take up the role of Maizena’s XXIst board! Below, you can get to know a little bit about each one of us individually.
Chair: Roel Loeffen
Hey everyone! I’m Roel, 22 years old, and as the new chair of Maizena I’m the one responsible for making sure the board keeps working like a well-oiled machine (and creating MS Paint artworks for all of the meeting agendas I make).
To make sure I can bring the best possible vibes to Maizena, I decided to postpone starting my major project. When I get to this, however, I will inevitably work with a large dataset; nothing more satisfying than seeing the output of a bunch of numbers 😎.
In my free time I love playing volleyball. This is where I let my overly competitive side loose 😌. Apart from this, among other things, I supervise tiny scouts, go to the gym, play videogames, and meet with friends. Som
etimes to have a serious conversation about life, other times to play boardgames, and occasionally to go for a drink and then go crazy at the karaoke bar. Regardless of the occasion, there’s a decent chance I’ll laugh for multiple minutes because someone made a stupid joke. There’s also a decent chance that person will have been me 🙃.
I’m really looking forward to the rest of the year and getting to spend time with all of you. If you run into me on campus, don’t be shy and come say hi, because I’m always in for a coffee break!

Secretary: Jahnavi Rastogi
Hey everyone! I’m Jahnavi, and I’m honoured to be taking on the role of Secretary this year 💫. (It’s pronounced Jan-vi. Yes the ‘h’ is just for decoration, take it up with my parents). I’ll be the one behind all the emails and way too many colour-coded spreadsheets, because apparently, chaos looks better in pastel.
I’m in my second year here – still figuring things out, but now with the occasional illusion of productivity 😅. When I’m not buried in uni work, you can find me doing serious behavioural research (aka people-watching) and chatting with friends like it’s a paid position. And while I’m not a huge coffee person, if you need something to hold while you tell me your life story—whether it’s the warmth from a mug or the condensation on a glass—consider it on the house😉.
I love turning life into mini-adventures and memories that stick. This makes my gallery a museum of the world through my eyes — all the tiny moments that made me stop and smile. I’m also one of those people who opens a bag of crisps with scissors instead of ripping it, so make of that what you will ✂️.
Looking forward to a year of laughs and shenanigans with all of you. Can’t wait to see you around—and for you to be the audience for my next dad joke! 😉💛

Treasurer: Elvira Pijper
Hiii, my name is Elvira, I am 22 years old and I have the honor of being the XXIst Treasurer of Maizena! Even though I failed my economics class in high school, I love to budget things and even made a financial overview of my own expenses. Besides that, I study the symptomalogy of depression in adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and would love to research this topic in the future as well.
In my free time, I love to go to concerts and to go thrifting, hence my outfits mostly consist of thrifted clothes + a band tee. Fun fact: This year I’ve seen 75 artists already and still have a lot planned for the rest of this year. Additionally, I like to take analog photos of these shows. When I’m not at a concert I like to go fishing with my boyfriend (him doing the work, I watch) or go to the gym. Last thing: I love cats (and dogs) and taking pictures of them, the cat at my parent’s home is called cheese and he is my child!!!
I am very excited for the coming year with my amazing fellow board members!!!

Promotional Officer: Ingrid Wortel
Heyyy! I’m Ingrid, 23 years old, and I’m the Promotion Officer for the XXIˢᵗ Board of Maizena 🙂 That means I’m the one behind our Instagram, WhatsApp messages, and other Social Media platforms. Basically, I make sure everyone knows what’s happening in Maizena!
I’ve lived in Nijmegen (well, Lent) my whole life and did my Psychology bachelor here too, so I know the city and university pretty well. I’m currently doing a double master, combining RMBS with Gezondheidszorgpsychology (clinical psychology), and I also work as a research assistant giving exposure therapy to people with social anxiety.
In my free time, you’ll probably find me watching series or movies, going to concerts, riding horses, taking pictures, playing Dungeons & Dragons, reading, making coffee (with wayyy too much sugar), listening to music, chilling with my cat, or enjoying Roxy’s with friends ❤ And obviously, I thought I’d have plenty of time left… so a board year just made perfect sense!
I’ve really loved getting to know so many of you already, and I’m looking forward to organizing more activities and spontaneous Roxy’s adventures 🎤

External Affairs Officer: Julia Dicks
Heyya! I’m Julia and I am extremely honoured to be Maizena’s first ever External Affairs Officer 😎 I’m also fulfilling the role of vice-chair, making sure our dear chair is doing well (and reprimanding him here and there when some strange stickers make it to our groupchat yet again 🤨).
I am a second year master student and also completed my bachelors here, so you could really say that I know my way around the city and campus! I have actually done a board year previously for SPiN, the bachelor psychology association, and been an active student for several years. So this certainly feels really familiar as well 😉
Besides studying, and apparently board years, I enjoy going to the gym (or trying out another new sport at the RSC), crocheting and going out with friends. I especially like me some Sushi/Poke Bowl and going for a session of billiards 🍣🎱 Not to forget, I love watching some good-old Barbie movies for that nostalgic comfort 🧚🏻💖
I’m looking forward to the exciting year that lays ahead and all the fun activities Maizena will organise! Especially the monthly drinks will be dear to my heart, and you will for sure find me singing away at Roxy’s at the unofficial after-monthly-drink party 🎤💃

Internal Relations Officer: Tyler Timmers
Hey hey! I’m Tyler, and I’m a 1st year in our beloved Behavioural Science programme! 😎 On top of that, I’ll be the Internal Relations Officer for the XXIst Board. Exciting!
I was born and raised in the Canary Islands, so while you all might be enjoying the fall weather, I’m already triple-layering and eating soups for dinner. I’m simply not built for this climate; but after a few years in Nijmegen pursuing the Psychology bachelor, I’ve learned to love it in my own way. 🙂
When I’m not buried under assignment deadlines and unread papers I like to spend my time climbing, reading, watching movies, and irresponsibly going for coffee with friends when I’m trying to save money. I’m a serial RSC-course-enroller, so there’s always a decent chance you’ll catch me at the Sportcenter. While I love the highly social city life, for my own sanity I have to balance it with outdoorsy adventures back home, sometimes up a steep mountain or down in a narrow cave. Since Nijmegen has neither of the latter, a walk or run around my favourite parks and forests keeps me at bay. 😉
I’m very excited to share a wonderful year with the awesome members and fellow-boardies of Maizena!
